How does Ecocare Activator work? A. Problems develop in waste treatment systems when there is an imbalance between the natural bacteria that digest waste and the type or amount of waste they must consume. Ecocare Activator works in four ways to solve this problem:
Supplied as a concentrated liquid all you need to do is apply Ecocare Activator down your toilets or drains, or as directed, for quick, environmentally responsible results. Q. How often do I need to use Ecocare Activator? A. It is recommended that your system initially be treated with a ‘priming dose’ of Ecocare Activator followed by a weekly dose. The amount required each week will depend on the number of people using the facilities. We also recommend using Ecocare Activator as a general cleaner – by pouring any excess into your drainage system you will keep drains clean and odour free and ensure your septic maintains a healthy balance of naturally occurring bacteria. Q. How fast will Ecocare Activator work? A. Ecocare Activator goes to work at once, but depending on the severity of the problem it may take two to three weeks before you see major improvements. Blockages within absorption trenches require a more intense application and can take from three to four months to clear. Q. Do I need to pump out my waste system before I use Ecocare Activator? A. No, simply use Ecocare Activator as directed and wait for results. Activator stimulates the natural consumption of waste, breaking down crusting and solids and significantly reducing the need for pump outs. In most cases Activator will revitalise the system making pump outs unnecessary, however if your tank is already full or overflowing we would recommend an initial pump out to ensure maximum long term benefit from using Ecocare Activator. Q. Can I use grey water on the garden after using Ecocare Activator? A. Yes, Ecocare Activator is non-toxic and contains no chemicals that might damage plants. Grey water may contain an array of fats, chemicals and organic matter from kitchen, laundry and bathroom waste which can cause offensive odours when used in the garden – Ecocare Activator breaks down these components and helps clarify the water reducing the risk of bad odour. The nutrients in Ecocare Activator will also assist in plant growth! Q. Will Ecocare Activator get rid of tree roots? A. No, Ecocare Activator contains no herbicides or chemicals that can damage plants. It will, however, break down waste that has built up around the roots improving drainage through the system. Tree roots can completely block or break pipes, so you should call a plumber to remove the roots and repair the pipes. Q. Our drains have a bad smell, does Ecocare Activator have a fragrance that will cover it? A. No. Ecocare Activator does not have any added perfumes or masking agents. It actually kills odours on contact and works to restore a biological balance preventing bad smells. No perfume is required. Q. I hate cleaning out the grease trap – will using Ecocare Activator help? A. By using Ecocare Activator as your cleaner and by adding weekly to your grease trap, grease and fat will be dissolved and broken down, reducing the need to clean it out. Q. We are on town sewerage – can I still use Ecocare Activator for my smelly, blocked drains? A. Yes. Blockages and odour are caused by the accumulation of soap, detergent grease and fats on the sides of drains and pipes. Ecocare Activator will break these down quickly, removing blockages and restoring flow … and in an environmentally safe way. Q. Can we use Ecocare Activator in our Bio-cycle? A. Yes, Ecocare Activator is effective in all types of waste systems. Q. Do I need to wear rubber gloves when handling your products? A. No, our products are non-toxic and contain no harsh chemicals. The same characteristics that help unclog drains and fix septics also make it a highly effective cleaner….so it’s ideal for cleaning if you have sensitive skin or allergies. Agribusiness Q. Do Insight Environment’s Products have AQIS approval? A. Yes, all of the products supplied by Insight Environmental are AQIS approved. Q. Does Qweller help with ammonia reduction? A. Yes, ammonia levels are reduced as increased bacterial activity, stimulated by Qweller, converts ammonia to nitrate and prevents its release from waste. Q. Do Insight Environmental’s products reduce the BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) in effluent? A. BOD represents a measure of how much pollution an effluent contains, and designates Biological Oxygen Demand, meaning how much oxygen is required to convert all of the waste to carbon dioxide and water. When the BOD level in treated effluent rises significantly it is a clear indication that the microbial community within the treatment system has been decimated to a point where it cannot effectively treat the waste. Insight Environmental’s products significantly reduce the BOD levels, allowing more rapid decomposition of the organic waste. Q. How much does it cost? A.
